We love 50/50 martinis at Oberon’s. Equal parts gin and dry vermouth, the herbaceousness of the dry vermouth shines through beautifully along side the botanicals of the gin. We also use a high proof gin like Sipsmith VJOP to create balance and to add complexity. With this cocktail, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Have you experienced clarified milk punch before? We know, the name sounds odd. In fact, the process is even more odd. However, these punches date back hundreds of years with famous people like Thomas Jefferson writing about his own recipe. The process requires, as you might guess, milk. The other important ingredient includes citrus juice or any acidic ingredient. Next, include alcohol of your choice and any other syrups or flavors you want to add into your cocktail. The milk is added to your cocktail mixture, and because of the acid, the milk naturally curdles. The punch is then strained and, voila, you have a clarified cocktail. The milk curds do more than just clarify. It also softens the edges of the alcohol and produces a drink that’s unctuous and silky. It’s really delicious. In fact, I never hesitate to order a clarified milk punch at any bar I’m at with this drink on the menu. Our punch is made up of different rums, all spice, Demerara, lime, and bitters. We like to garnish with star anise to offer more Caribbean spice notes to the rum. It’s fun to go outside your comfort zone from time to time in life. So I recommend you coming by to experience your first clarified milk punch.

Watermelon Margarita From our new cocktail menu: we made a watermelon-basil shrub and combined it with blanco tequila. Tequila has a beautiful vegetal quality that pairs well with herbs like basil. The watermelon provides the sweetness and the white wine vinegar in the shrub adds the right amount of acidity in order to replace the lime juice found in a traditional margarita. Ask our bartenders to sub Jalapeño tequila if you want it spicy. We recommend enjoying this refreshing supper on our back patio. Cheers!

Oberon’s is open with new hours and new cocktails. Meet Tropic Thunder: Mezcal, Reposado, Passion Fruit, Cinnamon Syrup, Lemon We split the spirit base with Reposado because mezcal on its own can lend a thin mouthfeel to the drink. The Reposado adds a fuller mouthfeel. The notes of smoke from the mezcal pairs deliciously with the tropical flavors from the passion fruit. We also add cinnamon syrup to add a layer of Caribbean spice. Lemon is more delicate than lime and offers better balance in this drink. We hope you enjoy as much as we did when making it. Join us every day from 3pm to 10pm. Happy Hour is 3pm - 5pm.
